How private equity firms use procurement as a lever for value creation

In a low growth economy and highly competitive deal market, leading private equity houses are generating substantial value in their portfolio companies through procurement improvements. Since procurement savings and efficiencies pass directly to the bottom line, it is a key focus area for private equity owners and management teams in value creation plans. We are pleased to announce that Bob Callahan, Operating Principal at Global Infrastructure Management, will be opening the evening’s discussions and sharing his views and experiences of how procurement has delivered value to the Global Infrastructure Management portfolio. GIP is an independent infrastructure fund manager that combines deep industry expertise with industrial best practice operational management. GIP manages over $40 billion for its investors. The companies in GIP's portfolio have combined annual revenues greater than $5 billion and employ approximately 21,000 people.

 

For the last ten years with GIP, Bob’s primary focus has been centered around process improvement and sourcing and capital efficiency programs. Prior to GIP, Bob spent 17 years with GE and Sypris Solutions in a variety of commercial and operational leadership roles (General Manager, Process Improvement Leader and Commercial Leader, Director of Supply Chain). Mr. Callahan holds an MBA from Ohio State University and a BS & MS in Engineering from Alfred University.
