Expanding an airport in a challenging political environment

Andy Haynes, Procurement Director at Heathrow Airport, will open the evening's talk with a discussion about the challenges of managing a procurement department in a complex multi-stakeholder environment, and the importance of sustainability and partnership within the supply chain.

Heathrow is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world, serving over 80 million passengers in 2018. Over 76,000 people work at the many hundreds of businesses based at Heathrow – or Team Heathrow - making Heathrow one of the UK’s biggest single site employers and one of the most diverse workforces and customer bases of any organisation, globally.

About the speaker

Andy is accountable for all operational and capital suppliers and delivery of the Heathrow 2.0 sustainability strategy to transform the Heathrow supply chain for a sustainable future. Prior to this Andy spent 20 years in infrastructure delivery, initially at Thames Water and latterly at Network Rail. 

He was Finance & Commercial Director for Western Route programmes including Reading Station, Crossrail on network works and Great Western Route Modernisation. Andy is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, a Fellow of CIPS and has an MBA from Henley.
